Victor

Victor works in transport. And he’s probably the first individual to request the photographs I took of him. I e-mailed him a bunch of them. Still no reply, perhaps he didn’t like them, who knows. I was walking to the Pulaski Bridge when Victor stopped to talked to me and ask for a photograph. Sometimes, I wonder if I should be calling my project; “old guys that talk to me”. In a way, the project came to me, I’ve done no real approaching during my time in New York, most of the individuals sort of crashed into taking a picture or crashed into me. I’m really not all that friendly actually, I have no actual skill in getting someone to take a photograph for me, they sort of… fall into my lens.
Victor works in Long Island. After taking the pictures, he said we should hang out. Probably not…
Make that “old somewhat creepy guys that talk to me” and “what sign is above my head inviting these people to talk to me?” You do get really good shots though when they’ve let their guard down for you. It is obvious that they are comfortable with you. You have a gift.

Your portraits are especially beautiful; you are very talented in both your editing skills that create a certain “amanda” effect as well as the composition.

i really like the reflection of yourself taking the picture in his sunglasses….. also you really got a great angle for his head shots.

Now that i see that picture, i not only like the way you take portraits but also the colors of your image. Every color is pretty vivid, but they all go together well.

I loved the photo were I can see you through the lenses, it gives the picture a certain mood, and it also makes it funny and playful. I also liked the angle and frame that you did.

The first one is the best, hands down! Not only because of the colours etc but because of the way the other person is sitting in the background behind the glass. It just says so much and adds a whole new perspective to taking pictures of people.

I like the second one the most. It’s a very good crop. It gives you the greater closeness to the subject that the third photo does, but it is still obvious that he is the subject (as opposed to you reflected in his sunglasses).
